Strizzate Siena Sunset

A fiery Italian sunset seen from the top of a medieval tower in Siena.

That's what this reminds us of.

However, it is one of the wonderfully original Richard Weston strizzatte images using a technique originated by Rennaisance painters.

Here the image has been created by squeezing (that's what strizzate means in Italian) acrylic paints between glass sheets, then scanning them at high resolution, so that what you are seeing is a tiny fraction of mixed paints.
