Flowering Strizzatte Scarf

One of the many Richard Weston strizzatte images using a technique originated by Renaissance painters - but here we have a 'design' that is totally different to all the others here despite the same technique being used, albeit with more pastel paints.

The image has been created by squeezing (which is what strizzatte means in Italian) acrylic paints between glass sheets, then scanning them at high resolution, so that what you are seeing is a tiny fraction of paints.

But what a wonderfully beautiful and original 'design' it makes. And on silk, it absolutely achieves its best. No wonder Liberty customers have made it one of the most popular designs in the collection.
