Brazilian Strizzatte Coaster

One of the many Richard Weston strizzatte images using a technique originated by Rennaisance painters - but here reminding us of the outfits of participants in Brazilian carnival parades.

The image has been created by squeezing (that's what strizzatte means in Italian) acrylic paints between glass sheets, then scanning them at high resolution, so that what you are seeing is a tiny fraction of paints.

It certainly makes for distinctive coasters with subtleties of colour that would make many artists proud.

This set of 4 identical 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cms) coasters have a square shape, rounded corners. a high gloss finish to make the image stand out, and a thick cork base to prevent slipping.
