This is, like the Granite Agate, an intricate and delicate natural design, but while agate is created from super-heated molten rock, calcite is found in gently, slowly and cooly created sedimentary rocks.
Calcite is often called alabaster, and is a key constituent of marble - you will recognise those wavy lines you see in marble.
We love the beautiful blends of colours (including a touch of Chelsea FC blue!) - something that nature does that man finds very hard - if not impossible - to copy.
The scarf is an exceptionally large 198 x 68 cms satin silk, sourced in China, and digitally printed near Lake Como in northern Italy.
It is now offered at less than half the retail price.
