A tiny section of tourmaline, yet it seems to have a mountainous scale as well as a surprisingly rich rainbow of colours.
Tourmaline was first brought to Britain from Ceylon (as was) in the eighteenth century, and is a semi-precious stone that contains aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium - hence this magnificent range of colours.
