Morphogenius

Morphogenesis - the generation of form and design -  explains how nature creates zebra stripes, fish scale patterns and tortoise shell swirls.

In the early 1950s, Alan Turing correctly predicted how morphogenesis creates those patterns - way before DNA or molecular biology proved it.

Now, we have the computer power to turn theory into practice – and a new art form has been created that generates ‘natural patterns’ through highly developed algorithms.

Leading the way has been Australian academic Jonathan McCabe, who has been exhibited and featured by the BBC, the Smithsonian and New Scientist to name but a few.

Now Weston has collaborated with Jonathan to produce a stunning collection of truly beautiful and original images that are the perfect combination of nature and technology that has always been central to the high resolution images Weston uses to create all its collections.

We love the vitality and dynamism of this stunningly complex image.

Yet when worn as a flowing silk scarf it manages to be artisticly original, naturally flowing, and technologically advanced.

Quite a feat!
