Art Quartz

There is more than a suggestion of an abstract painting in this image created by Nature - the world's finest artist we would say.

It has such a rich variety of colours because of many inclusions of tiny amounts of other minerals when it was molten, and a three dimensional depth that is often found in the best quartz samples.

The Ancient Greek word for quartz was ice cold as they, and the Roman Pliny The Elder, thought it was, or was created by, supercooled ice, and, despite being the second most abundant mineral, it has always been regarded as mysterious and precious.

Today, many are more concerned with the supposed power of quartz crystals to facilitate unity, eternal love and invincibility as well as wealth and good fortune.

We just think it makes for a beautiful and original scarf.
