Solva Agate Scarf

Solva "fjord" is one of the most attractive on the magnificent Pembrokeshire coast, and this equally magnificent - and unexpected - agate image seems to us to represent the blue sea, white waves, rocky coast and the roundness of the Iron Age promontory fortified villages that are found all along this coast.

But, putting all that aside, it's a lovely scarf with beautiful colours and a shimmering quality in silk that is most attractive and exceptional.

The microscope used to capture this image delivers a magnification upto 200 times actual size – so that means we need a mineral sample less than 1 millimetre wide to create this scarf.

That also means that human eyes have never seen this image before now, despite the mineral itself being millions of years old.
