Rhodochrosite is naturally rose-red to pink, and often found next to other a manganese minerals, such as silver as in Argentina and Colorado, both of which have rhodacrosite as their nominated mineral.
The Incas believed it was impregnated with the blood of their former rulers, and so it is sometimes called "Rosa del Inca".
