While the ancient world knew jasper as green and translucent - and often used for seals - it offers a huge variety of colours and formation.
This is what's known as Picture Jasper, which typically has dendritic tendencies (hence all the lines) exacerbated by mixing with other minerals, and then being subject to erosion. Here the base is probably also Yellow Jasper.
Whatever, it is a pleaseing image drawn by nature with a free hand.
