Thanks to the pair of startling 'agate eyes', this wonderfully baroque image has turned into a distorted face - some find it fearsome, some cartoon-like, perhaps a duck? What about you?
The banded formations of this agate are a wildly distorted version of the classic 'fortification' type thought to be the result of internal forces operating prior to crystallisation, but their precise nature is not understood. Size of the agate: 7cm.
