Tempest
This amazing, almost three-dimensional image is a small piece of Pietersite that reminds us of cliffs and storms, so Tempest seemed to be a fitting name.

Pietersite was first found in the 1960s in Namibia (by Sid Pieters), but is now also found in China. It typically has gold, red and orange colours with blue, as in this sample, being the most rare colour. You can certainly see its quartz-like characteristics in this beautiful sample. |
