Snow Mountain
No real snow-covered mountain seen through trees looks quite like this, but the resemblance is still uncanny. This image is actually of white quartz seen through clear quartz, and a network of beautifully formed manganese dendrites.
It was, rather surprisingly, captured from a small tumble-stone, and quartz, although often spectacularly special when scanned, is the most abundant material in the earth's continental crust. |
